NES in your Firefox

What is FireNes?

FireNes is a Firefox extension that allows us to play all the games Nintendo and Gamboy, without the need to download anything, or emulator or roms. To achieve this FireNes uses the web emulator vNes and vGbx. Currently you can play with about 2500 Nintendo games and 1400 GameBoy games.

Important: To play you need the latest version of Java plugin

NES in your Firefox
version: 2.0.2

Now available a new version (2.0.1). Just a few small changes to make it compatible with the new version of Firefox.
Take this opportunity to thank everyone who donated to keep alive FireNes. Unfortunately there were very few people, given so far does not cover expenses that have this project, so we still could not add another console (eg SNES) as planned. So back to ask them to donate, every penny counts and will be grateful.

This is one of the most significant changes I make, not only to the extension but also to the website. Starting with the extension, the most important is that now you can play with around 1400 Game Boy games, but the biggest change was internal, not seen with the naked eye, allowing a future rapid incorporation of other consoles.
On the other hand we have the total renovation of the site, adding the ability to translate to various languages (please contact me to give me a hand with the topic.)
Finally, and not least, add the donation button, because every time it is more difficult to keep the games, especially now with the introduction of Game Boy games. I promise to include other consoles even if they are viable donations.

List of changes:

  • Added 1400 Game Boy games
  • Important change in the structure of extension to accept future new consoles
  • Bug fixes and other minor changes.
  • It improves the compatibility with other extensions.
  • Option button next to the search
  • Credits in the options menu
  • New tab "Trash" with games that do not work
  • Now it focuses on the game if the window is already open
  • You can change the screen size (in the NES games are still flaws)
  • Now you can change the default controls that come
  • VNes emulator was updated to version 2.13

Enjoy!

Recently I uploaded to the server, so they should automatically update. I had it ready few months ago, but was postponed publication for various reasons, a little lack of time and a little for laziness.
You could say that the most important developments are 3: add a game search box, upgrade to the latest version of the emulator and I put the option to notify for when a game does not work. I hope you enjoy it, I leave you with the complete list of changes:

  • Add search bar as you type
  • Create a database to better manage the games list
  • Now opens the page with news updates every time
  • Update emulator to version 2.11
  • Reimplements and simplify the game notices that do not work
  • Add an option to notices of "recommend to top"
  • Fix several errors code
  • Improve compatibility with Firefox 3.5 .* and Linux distributions

Remember update your version of java to avoid problems.
